We are coming to the end of humanity as we know it. The uncertainty of our species’ continued existence and its role in the world haunts me. As a soldier, I have seen first hand the violence and degradation our species is capable of inflicting on itself and its world. Throughout my life, I have experienced the rapid development of technologies that have the potential to change our existence. Through my sculpture I want my viewers to experience the unseen alternatives that we could create
My work combines traditional sculpture, model making, and assemblage to create sculptural tableaux, whose purpose is to explore the potential relationships between biological and mechanical life. I work in mixed media, found objects, discarded remnants, and archaic inventions. I am drawn to these materials because, they are the tailings of humanity’s progress towards its own destruction and the formation of new forms of life.
